LOOMIS MEADOW

Native GRASSLAND
loomis, CA | 2016

We designed and built this approximately 2-acre native landscape to match a modern, environmentally-sustainable Blu Home in Loomis, CA. The project involved a no-mow native lawn area and a large, 1.5-acre native grassland meadow. We installed the meadow using approximately 25 species of native seed, collected and propagated locally, and arranged the species into large swaths of three to four species with distinct bloom times. The end result is a native meadow with migrating patches of color through the seasons, and myriad monarch butterflies, goldfinches, and other wildlife.

This project is featured in an article titled, “Creating Structured Native Meadows for Landscapes” in the Winter 2018 issue of the quarterly Grasslands Journal.
